Donner Memorial State Park
The unmarked trail starts near the Emigrant Trail Museum. You may snowshoe through flat woods with some
Donner Lake Views.
Cabin Creek Trail
From Truckee, take Hwy 89 toward Squaw for about 10 minutes, and near the Dump you will find the trail
head is 1 mile up from highway on Cabin Creek Road with up to 6 miles of easy trails.
Cold Stream Canyon
The gate may be open, or closed, so park as close as you can get. This 4 mile loop has only one hill
in the first 1/2 mile.
Peter Grubb Hut / Castle Peak
From the Castle Peak exit at Donner Summit, drive north on the road for 1/2 mile to the trail head. The
trail is a gradual uphill for several miles. The trail is unmarked, but there should be plenty of tracks
to follow on this popular route. When you reach the ridge, Peter Grubb Hut is north and the Peak is
obvious to the south.
